Lee Fortenberry, CLU, ChFC, RHU, REBC, MSFS, CFP®
Agency Director
Agency Director Lee Fortenberry recruits, trains and develops our Financial Representatives—an essential responsibility, given The Central Pennsylvania Group’s aggressive growth plan. Lee graduated from Erskine College with a degree in chemistry and spent several years in the military. He learned about Northwestern Mutual opportunities from his own Financial Representative. In 1990, Lee became a Financial Representative in Baltimore, MD, advancing to Managing Director in that office and then, in 2001, Lee came to Harrisburg, PA as the Agency Director of The Central Pennsylvania Group.
In every year under Lee Fortenberry’s leadership, The Central Pennsylvania Group has qualified for the National Management Award. Lee has also received the National Sales Achievement Award and the National Quality Award. His professional designations include Registered Health Underwriter (RHU), Registered Employee Benefits Consultant (REBC), Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU), Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC) and the Certified Financial PlannerTM (CFP®) certification. In early 2008, Lee completed his Master's of Science in Financial Services (MSFS).
Lee has been recognized several times by The American College for mentoring other Financial Representatives to their own professional designations. He is also a member of the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors, where he serves on the local Executive Board; the Society of Financial Service Professionals; the Estate Planning Council; and the Financial Planning Association.
His personal support for community organizations includes participation in the Harrisburg Regional Chamber, the Capital Preview Program, Young Life and Rotary International. Lee resides in Mechanicsburg with his wife, Cheri, and their two children, Courtney and Marty.
The Central Pennsylvania Group
The Harrisburg, PA, office of Northwestern Mutual opened in 1902. In addition to our Network Office along the east bank of the beautiful Susquehanna River, The Central Pennsylvania Group has field offices in Williamsport, State College and York. Our growth plan calls for opening additional Central Pennsylvania offices in the next few years. We recruit aggressively and, equally important, continue to develop our current Representatives. We’re especially proud of the awards won by our interns and new Financial Representatives.
